Description

Cleavers

Galium aparine.
Action: appetite-inducing, inflammation inhibiting, urine floating, wound healing, astringent, cleansing.

Cleavers is an excellent herb to support and strengthen the lymphatic system; it enlarges the lymph nodes and is particularly suitable for urinary tract infections such as cystitis.
The herb is rich in Silica and therefore helps to improve the coat.
Stickywort is used for mild swelling and fluid retention; it is therefore a good herb to help with wind galls or thick legs.
It is interesting to note that the homeopathic remedy Silica is used to remove ´body foreign´ substances such as gravel, sand, thorns etc. from the horse's body.
Silica rich Stickywort is a perfect herb to remove these substances from the body and thus is a daily solution especially for ´sand eaters´.
This herb has a reputation for having healing qualities in fouling and tumors.
Stickywort is rich in calcium, copper, iodine and sodium.

Cleavers is a feed for horses to support the lymphatic system and the removal of waste and fluids. It is well suited for during the fall and winter seasons and for horses that receive (temporarily) less exercise.

Cleavers as a supplement for horses

Cleavers (Galium aparine) like to grow around pastures and are often unfairly viewed as weeds. Horses actually usually find cleavers very tasty to eat, both fresh and dried. Besides being a tasty herb, it is also a very healthy herb for horses! Cleavers is also called lymphatic herb due to its healthy properties. This is because it is an important herb for supporting the lymphatic system and is therefore considered a natural diuretic for horses. Thus, cleavers contributes to good circulation, supports the removal of waste products and fluids, and contributes to a healthy and shiny coat.

When can I give cleavers to a horse?
Cleavers is known as a natural diuretic and is therefore very suitable for horses that are stabled for a longer period of time and get (temporarily) less exercise. Think, for example, of horses that are on box rest due to injury or surgery, or horses that are stabled for extended periods in the fall and winter. When a horse does not get enough exercise, waste products can accumulate in the legs and your horse may benefit from additional support of the lymphatic system. Cleavers naturally has a positive effect on the lymphatic system and is therefore ideal for giving your horse additional support from within.

DOSAGE: 1 scoop is ± 5gr.

Cleavers likes to be eaten by horses and can easily be given over the feed.

- Horse or pony up to 350kg: 20 grams per day.

- Horse over 350kg: 30 grams per day.
