Vitaminthe from Virbac is a broad-spectrum deworming paste for dogs and cats.

This paste is effective against roundworms, whipworms, hookworms and tapeworms in dogs and cats.

Vitaminthe is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic for dogs and cats and is easily administered to the back of the tongue due to the paste formulation.

Niclosamide is specifically effective against tapeworms and oxibendazole combats both adult and larval stages of roundworms, whipworms and hookworms. The combination of both active ingredients in this paste makes Vitaminthe suitable for use in dogs and cats of all ages. Vitaminthe is barely absorbed by the body, providing maximum concentration and efficacy in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, as empty a gastrointestinal tract as possible promotes effectiveness.

Tapeworms (Dipylidium caninum) are transmitted by fleas. Reinfection is prevented by applying thorough flea control at the same time as deworming.

Importance of deworming with Virbac Vitaminthe Deworming Paste

Niclosamide is specifically effective against tapeworms and oxibendazole combats both adult and larval stages of roundworms, whipworms and hookworms. The combination of both active ingredients in this paste, makes Vitaminthe suitable for use in dogs and cats of all ages and can be administered to animals during the lactation period. Roundworms (Ascarids) can be recognized by their vermicelli-like form. The roundworm is most common and is important to control because of the damage it causes in the body and its extreme infectivity to puppies and (to a lesser extent) children.

Adult animals are usually little affected by roundworms. The eggs of roundworms can remain infectious outside the body for years. After ingestion, a migration takes place in the body and the worms enter the intestines, where they produce eggs again as adult worms. Some of it goes into a so-called resting phase in the body. Deworming has no effect on the worms in the resting phase. During gestation, the "resting" worms are activated again and infect pups already in the womb.

Pups and kittens are infected through the mother's milk after birth. Young animals in particular can quickly suffer a lot of damage this way. Hookworms (Ancylostomidae) and whipworms (Trichurata) are generally less common in the Netherlands and mainly in kennels and boarding houses. Tapeworms (Dipylidium) in adult dogs and cats are usually not very harmful and are transmitted by fleas. They can be recognized in the feces or around your pet's anus as "rice grains" or "maggots. These are worm segments that detach and usually come out with the feces.

Your dog or cat infects itself again by licking up infected fleas. Re-infection is prevented by optimally controlling the fleas as well. This applies to both the animal and the environment. Always treat all pets at the same time!
